A warm welcome awaits
Rising Sun Holiday Cottages are managed by Carolyn and Allan Boddy and their family, who live in the adjacent farmhouse. Their aim is to ensure you holiday is a success. Rising Sun Holiday Cottage and Haddocks Nook Cottage are part of the Rising Sun Estate which is privately owned. You can learn more about our two cottages below.
Rising Sun Holiday Cottage
Rising Sun Holiday Cottage is situated at Rising Sun Farm, Aldwark (nr. York) in rural North Yorkshire. It is managed by Allan and Carolyn Boddy and their family.
Once the farm’s cart shed, it’s been lovingly converted into a luxury single story holiday cottage, fitted with all the modern appliances to the very highest standard, while keeping it’s traditional character with exposed original beams, brickwork and rustic furniture.
Haddock’s Nook
A former livestock barn, Haddock’s Nook is set in complete seclusion down the lane behind the farmstead, overlooking open farmland and woodland abundant with wildlife. It’s a secret hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The cottage sleeps four with the option for two more on the sofa-bed. Home comforts are aplenty, including leather sofas, flat screen TVs and wifi, yet the cottage retains its history with its exposed beams, solid wood furniture and real-wood floors.
What some of our guests say
Luxury isn’t the word, everything is like a show house. The main bedroom is very large, the bed is king-size and very comfortable, with ensuite shower room. Nextdoor is family bathroom with over bath shower. The twin room is also spacious and looks comfortable, both rooms have plenty of wardrobe and draw space.
We have just returned from a fabulous week’s holiday in this cottage. The cottage is warm, very clean, cosy and so comfortable and deserves its 5 star grading. The family who own the cottage were very friendly and left a very thoughtful welcome pack
Stunning cottage, very clean and spacious. The owner, Alan, is very friendly and happy to help with anything you might need. Short countryside walk to the village pub, which is really nice too.
